AFTER A BUSY 2016...

 

2016 – 12 months behind the purple door 

 

For LRD, the agency that ‘thinks big’, 2016 was a year of establishing new connections in Scandinavia, the Baltic states, the City of London and for developing key skills within the agency.

 

The year began with a visit to Latvia for the filming of the latest Genting national TV campaign that launched their state-of-the-art live casino studios. The warmth of the welcome we received could not disguise the frozen streets and chilling temperatures of Riga. But our investment in thermal underwear was worth it as the commercial attracted significant business for Genting.

 

Always in search of a new challenge we journeyed to the heart of the innovative InsurTech industry with Eos Venture Partners. Named after the Goddess of Dawn - whose wings are said to displayed an ever-changing hue - the letters of the title merge together in the icon, representing the role Eos plays in bringing together start-ups and investors. 

 

We were very pleased to open the purple door to Lancaster Trustees in 2016 and to Rocq Capital, a business formed as a result of a management buyout of Edmond de Rothschild in Guernsey. Both needed a new set of clothes and our tailors created bespoke looks that capture the unique qualities of each brand. 

 

2016 saw our digital content division delivering some hugely exciting projects for a wide variety of clients including Private Equity Administration based in Denmark, Sweden and Guernsey. Our brief was to “create engaging, informative content that would enhance brand awareness among fund managers as well as support new business activity”. Some brands are just made for engaging branded content and Norman Piette is definitely one. It is with great pleasure that we can announce that we’ve increased their Facebook following by +370%. The company’s history is like a history of Guernsey so we loved putting that together along with their hugely popular Monthly Mystery Prize competitions.

 

Part of the Jersey Electricity Group of companies, JEBS has been trading for decades as a building services provider and in 2016 LRD was tasked with producing their independent new look without losing connection to the trusted parent utility. Check out our designs for their new branding and how we communicated the multi-disciplined JEBS offering in the media.

 

Event management and video production remain important tools on the LRD utility belt and once again we donned wellies to film this year’s Insurance Corporation Conservation Awards – great content for their website and Facebook page. Through our Facebook campaign and media relations we smashed our target competitor figure in the Guernsey Dairy Fathers’ Day Half Marathon and attracted a massive crowd along the course and at the finish line. 

 

We don’t get asked to decorate lifts very often but this year we rose to the occasion and pimped the elevator at Creaseys new toy shop. The Bordage store also had its perimeter windows decorated with very vivid graphics. Great fun!

 

In our bid to help cultivate the big thinkers of the future, we took a giant inflatable brain to the Careers Fair (as you do!) and staged ‘The Big Think’ where we put Guernsey’s future agency masterminds to the test by giving them a day-long practical taste of living the deadline under ‘agency conditions’. And all the while we sharpened our own skills with the Institute of Practitioners in Advertising.
